Some of you may know that I only recently started watching Grey’s Anatomy and in case you missed out, I picked out my favourite moments in Season 1.
Season 2 was very different to Season 1. I had no idea what was going to hit me, and when it did, man, I finally understood why everyone has a love-hate relationship with Shonda.
So to recap, Season 2 truly brought on the DRAMA, I mean, it did have 27 episodes to do it in. It starts off with the way Season 1 ended, with my favourite, Addison, returning. This season is peak love triangle, or love hexagon. There’s Addie who wants Derek, and Derek who loves Addie, but loves Meredith more, and Meredith loves Derek, but also, she’s mad at him, and there’s this nice vet guy to consider.
Oh…… and there’s George, who is in love with Meredith, apparently, but also dating Callie Torries, who we are introduced to and it is obvious that our lovable leads, Christina, Izzie and Meredith are Mean Girls. Do we like Callie? Is she as weird as our girls make her out to be?
There was a lot of character development in this season, Meredith was slowly growing on me, and although I was still unconvinced about her, this scene sure got me fired up:
I loved that Addison was introduced as a villain, the reason Meredith and Derek couldn’t be together, but then, as it turns out, Addison is a mature, frighteningly intelligent woman and you end up just wanting her to be happy.
You’d think to yourself, a lot of drama already hey… But there’s a lot more:
Remember that time Christina almost died because of her accidental pregnancy and the complications that came along with it? Also, this season. Yikes.
And there’s more:
IN CASE YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN, WITH ALL THIS DRAMA IN ONE SEASON, THIS WAS ALSO THE SEASON WHERE MEREDITH WAS HOLDING A BOMB INSIDE A MAN’S CHEST AND WE ALL THOUGHT SHE WAS GOING TO DIE. WTF SHONDA?
Finally, after giving me multiple near heart attacks, Shonda finally decided to break my heart instead.
She took my heart, squeezed it, ripped it out and then tossed it out of a twenty-floor storey building. She managed to run down and catch it, she laughed and then threw it to the ground and stomped on it. This is how she did all that:
The moment etched into my mind and heart forever. It was the moment my heart first reached out to Alex. When he persuaded Izzie to let go of Denny and then carried her out, with Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars playing in the background, I COULD NOT HANDLE IT.
Now that you are crying, I will ask you again, could Season 2 have been the best season of Grey’s Anatomy? It had the original cast, the drama, the love, the death, the introduction of Mark McSteamy (Yowzer!) and the soundtrack.
Favourite songs in this season:
Chasing Cars – Snow Patrol (Both in this season, and later on)
How to Save a Life – The Fray
